Spinning is a major part of my life
Spinning is a major part of my life. I spin everyday, sometimes for an hour and sometimes for 2 or 3 hours. On days where I only get an hours worth of spinning done its usually because life outside of spinning intervenes. The days where I get to spin for 2 or 3 hours are rare but nice, because I get lots done. I may even get a bobbin and a half filled or even 2 skeins plied up. Today I was only able to spin for 1 hour 47 minutes 34 seconds and almost had my 3rd bobbin filled.
Knitting is also a big part of my life and whenever, I can find some spare time to knit, the needles come out and start in clicking away. Since I was up really early this morning with Sue-chi, because she wasn't feeling well. I pulled out the shawl I started on 2 days ago and knitted 9 more rows in 1 hour 47 minutes and 23 seconds.
There's a total 60 rows knitted now and a little over 5 hours worth of knitting time. I've place markers after each repeat, in order to keep track of the pattern.

Ideas form for some new products while spinning early in the morning.
As you all know, I really love to spin wool into yarn, knit it into products and even play with dyeing the yarn. So this morning, when I was sitting at my spinning wheel, at 6:11 am, and spinning up more white alpaca, ideas started forming for a new product to knit up. My spinning time went by so quickly, because of the ideas that were flowing and 1 hour 46 minutes 17 seconds just flew by. The second bobbin was almost filled.
So when my spinning time was done, I pulled out a skein of Handspun Mountain Sunset Colonial Merino Yarn, that I spun up a few years ago as a single ply yarn. I placed it on my umbrella swift to wind it into a center pull ball. Then I pulled out my size 8 circular needles, that I just recently bought and started in casting on for a "Handspun Knitted Mountain Sunset Colonial Merino Half Circle Shawl". Here's how much I have done so far.
35 rows finished in 1 hour 42 minutes 59 seconds.

No spinning or knitting today!
Sorry Folks! No spinning or knitting today. I did try!! Yesterday I sliced the top of my finger yesterday, when I was cleaning my house. I sliced bad enough for my husband to take me to the ER for 3 stitches. My finger feels better today, but its awkward to spin and knit and I have a tendency to poke myself with the knitting needles. Then when I'm spinning, I put pressure on that area of my finger and it hurts. So I think I'll sit back a read some spinning and weaving magazines for a couple of days. Sorry everyone!

First Sale of the Year #knitting #spinning #JANSALE
Yesterday morning I was busy packaging up my first sale of the year! A wonderful friend bought these 4 skeins of Handspun - Dyed - Alpaca - Yarn
After I came back from the post office from mailing off her package, I took pictures of the Handspun - Knitted - Wild Berry - Colonial Wool Blend - Boot Cuffs
sewed in the labels, printed out a label and then listed them on my website. Then I started in knitting on another pair with the remaining yarn.
After getting this new pair started, I put it aside and headed upstairs to the spinning room to start spinning up more White Alpaca
I pretty close to refilling this first bobbin again, but needed to get back to my knitting. So I stopped spinning and picked up my knitting needles again. I finished the gusset on my mom's socks
and knitted quite a bit on the instep. Then I put it down to start in knitting on my brother's socks.
When I started knitting on my brother's socks, I was at the beginning on the gusset (just starting). Now the gusset is half way finished.

Shoveling Snow this morning #knitting #spinning #JANSALE
Well, after shoveling the snow (roughly 1/2 inch) off my driveway, I finally picked up my knitting needles and started my day off.
I now have 2 3/4 inches knitted on the mate to this pair of
Handspun - Knitted - Wildberry - Colonial Wool Blend - Boot Cuffs
which means that I still need 4 1/4 inches, before this pair is finished.
I wound off the 14th skein of Handspun 3 ply White Alpaca Yarn today and washed it. Then I began plying up the 15th skein.
Soon I'll be ready to dye up some more Alpaca Yarn. So stay tuned as tomorrow the dye pot is coming out.
I finished the heel flap and heal turn on the mate to my mom's socks and started on the gusset.
As for my brother's socks, well I only have 1 more row to knit on the leg and then I'll be starting on the heel flap.
Don't forget though that this weekend
Spinning Ginny is taking 20% off her entire inventory.

Yesterday was active, but today was industrious!
Yesterday was a very active one, and today turned out to be just as industrious. The day started out with me knitting on the Handspun - Knitted - Maleficent - Mohair - Irish Lace Cowl.
Then I went hightailed it upstairs, to finish plying up another skein of 3 ply handspun white alpaca yarn.
Once I had this bobbin filled, I wound it off onto my niddy noddy, then I washed, and hung that skein to dry. Then I went back to spinning, this time starting to refilling first bobbin again.
Soon it was time to stop spinning and start in knitting again. So I boogied down the stairs and picked up knitting needles and the knitting commenced once again. This time on my mom's Christmas present.
I managed to finish the heel flap and heel turn, then start on the gusset. Then it was time to start in knitting on my brother's Christmas present.
I finished the leg and heel flap and then started in on the heel turn. Now that I am caught up with my knitting and spinning, it is time to dye up 2 skeins of newly Handspun White Alpaca Yarn into 2 skeins of Handspun Dyed Yellow Sun Alpaca Yarn.
This is only the first skein of Handspun Dyed Yellow Sun Alpaca Yarn. When this one is done, in will go the second skein. Soon both skeins will be dyed and hanging to dry.
So yesterday may have been active, however today was very industrious!!

Slow start yesterday, ended with knitting into the night to get caught up
Yesterday started off slow in the knitting and spinning department, only because I had some paperwork for my business to do. However, it still ended up great......even if I knitted into the night to try and get caught up. Anyways, after I ended my blog yesterday, I picked up my knitting needles and went to work.
I ended my knitting with 74 repeats, but first thing this morning I was at it again and now have 81 repeats (that's 324 rows), knitted.
I then measured it to see if its, the length I need and its 44 inches long, which means I'm almost there.
Back to yesterday though, I did manage to get some spinning done.
I still have some room left to fill this bobbin and hopefully, today it will be filled.
My mom's and brother's Christmas presents are coming along great.
I finished the cuff and started on the leg. I think I managed to get 2 repeats of the pattern I'm doing (which is a double basket weave).
My brother's Christmas present is just about the same length as my mom's
I have the cuff finished and I stopped on the 12th row of the pattern I'm doing (which is a Seeded Ribbing Check). I usually only work 1 pair of socks at a time, but this time I thought I'd work on both at the same time. My mom's will probably work up slightly as hers are a size 7 and my brothers is a size 9 1/2. Hopefully though I'll finish them both close to each other.
Now, I'm off to the spinning room to start spinning for the day!

#Knitting #Scarf #Christmas #Presents #Socks #Spinning
I'm so behind today! I had some business paperwork, that needed my attention!! But I'm ready to begin knitting now!!! Yesterday I knitted so much, that this is what I accomplished.
I have 67 repeats knitted on this scarf now (that's 268 rows of knitting).
Then I started knitting on 2 different pairs (and sizes) of socks. The blue one is my mom's Christmas present and the gray one is my brother's.
I was even able to get some spinning done too!
I am going to try and get some more spinning done today, but with this late start, I'm just not sure yet, but I'm going to try very hard too.
So anyway, I'm ready to get started now! I have everything sitting right next to me, so lets get those knitting needles clicking!!
