Tired but ideas are flowing like crazy #finished #socks #knitting #spinning #bootcuffs

TDespite my feeling extremely tired this morning, loads of ideas are flowing through my head.  Why is it when you are tired that the ideas tend to overflow.  LOL  Oh well, I'm just happy to have them!
Before I start writing them all down though, I want to share with you, what I did yesterday.
Here goes!
I finished the first boot cuff (second pair), and started on the mate.  Since I have the pattern memorized, this pair is working up, much faster.
I finished refilling the second bobbin and started in refilling the third bobbin.  It won't be long, before I'm plying up the 16 and 17th skeins.
Last but not least, I finished up my brother's socks last night.  So today I'll be printing up labels, for my mom's and brother's socks and then wrapping them up, packaging them and sending them off to the post office.  Soon they'll have warm, comfy, cozy feet.
Now for the ideas............
1.  hand warmers
2. shawls
3. sweaters
4. woven table runners
5. woven dish towels
6. woven coverlet
7. baby blanket
etc.................

Yesterday's accomplishments #finished #socks #knitting #spinning

I did it!  I finally finished my mom's socks!!  Oh I know she'll be happy, to have her socks soon.  She told me a while back that her socks were starting to wear thin, hence my knitting this new pair.
I almost finished up the first boot cuff, from the second pair, I'm working on.
I even came very close to refilling the second bobbin with handspun white alpaca.
and to top it all off, I only have 36 more rows left and my brother's socks will be finished.
This was all yesterday's work though, so you can see just what I'm going to accomplish today.

Day Surgery, #Plying, #Dyeing, #Socks, and new #Listings

Oh my goodness!  What a day I had yesterday!!  I was awake at 4:43 am and my husband was up right after me at 5:00 am.  He was having day surgery again (Lithotripsy).  He had this procedure done back on October and the big stone in his kidney was blasted pretty good.  We thought that he had passed all of the stone but last month when he saw the doctor for a recheck, the x-ray showed 2 fragments left.  So here we were getting up bright and early again, praying that this time would be the last.  So I put my store on vacation mode and it was a good thing too as we didn't get home until 2:45 pm.
However, last Friday and over the weekend, I did get lots done.  Friday for instance, I plied up another skein (making it #9 from Bellagio's fleece).  Then I listed 3 pairs of Spinning Ginny Original - Handspun - Knitted - Alpaca - Adult Ladies Socks.  A couple of a pair were custom orders, but the customer was having a lot of things happening in her family and just couldn't buy them.  So I listed them on my website.
Then I took the pair that I just finished and listed them too.
The other thing I did from last Friday and over the weekend was to start a new Category on my website.....called Lace Wt. Handspun.  I have decided to try and expand my store and since I spin yarn anyway and have had a couple of people ask me if I had any Handspun Yarn for sale.  I thought I'd give it a shot.  So I took 2 skeins that I had recently spun and dyed a Turquoise color and listed them.
Then the 2 skeins that I finished on Thursday and Friday of last week I dyed on Saturday afternoon in a Royal Blue color, and on Sunday I listed them after printing out the labels and rewinding them to figure out their yardage.
So the last 4 days have been pretty busy and today I'm back to spinning and taking care of my husband.

Some spinning, new listings and finished socks

Yesterday started out with me sitting down knitting on the Spinning Ginny Original - Handspun - Dyed - Knitted - Pretty n Pink - Adult Ladies Socks - Size 5.  But I put them down to go and do some spinning.
However, I didn't finish filling up this bobbin due to hearing about the San Bernardino Shooting.  So I came downstairs and posted a new listing, while listening to the news.
Newly listed:

Then once I had them listed, I went back to knitting on the Spinning Ginny Original - Handspun - Dyed - Knitted - Pretty n Pink - Adult Ladies Socks - Size 5.  I finished them around 11:30 pm last night.  I just finished washing them and have them on my sock blockers drying.
Today I hope to finished filling the third bobbin and start plying, that is if I can get rid of this Migraine.

#Socks and #Spinning

Yesterday, I finished the leg and heel flap and then started in on the heel turn.
Then I headed upstairs to the spinning room to do some spinning.  I finished refilling the second bobbin.
The first bobbin weights 5 1/8 ounces (with bobbin) and 3 1/8 ounces (without bobbin).
The second bobbin weights 5 ounces (with bobbin) and 3 ounces (without bobbin).
Total weight 10 1/8 ounces (with bobbin) 6 1/8 ounces (without bobbin).
Then I put the third bobbin on the wheel, now this bobbin isn't empty, so didn't start from scratch on this one, like I did with the second bobbin.
Anyways, I began spinning and only stopped now and then to get up and stretch, take sue-chi out, run a few errands, and cook dinner.  After dinner I was back at the spinning wheel again.  I finally stopped spinning around 6:50 pm and ended up with the bobbin being 3/4 full.
Today I start off finishing up the heel turn on the sock and going onto the gusset and instep and I hope to finish filling up the third bobbin and start plying up the 8th skein of white alpaca yarn.

#Socks, #Spinning, making #DyeStock, and #Dyeing #Handspun #Alpaca #Yarn

Well, I'm definitely back into the knitting and spinning life! I spent yesterday morning knitting on the Spinning Ginny Original - Handspun - Dyed - Knitted - Pretty n pink - Alpaca - Adult Ladies Socks - Size 5.
Later I found my way upstairs to the spinning room.  Once I sat down and started spinning, I was in the zone!!  I finished refilling the first bobbin (I think I went a little over board, as it started spilling over into the groove of the bobbin)
the second bobbin was put on the spinning wheel, it was empty,
before long, it was half full

I even found some time to make up some dye stock.  These will be used to start in dying up yarn in the future.
In this first picture, starting at your right, I have Royal Blue, Sun Yellow, Scarlet and Fire Red.
In this second picture and again starting at your right, I have Aztec Gold, Turquoise, Violet, and Black.  Then while I still had my dye pot at the ready, I dyed up 2 skeins of handspun 3 ply white alpaca yarn in some beautiful Turquoise dye and this is what the skeins look like now ( I just printed out the labels after rewinding them and figuring out their yardage).
This morning its back to knitting on the socks, well see whether I find my way back up to the spinning room later today.

The day passed by too fast and I forgot that I didn't blog

I took this weekend off from knitting, to relax my hands.  However, this morning I was right back to knitting once again.  I was so engrossed in my knitting that the day passed by me, before I realized I didn't blog.  Sorry everyone!
Anyways I'm here now to post just how much knitting I did today.  I started off my morning knitting on my new pair of Spinning Ginny Original - Handspun - Knitted - Dyed - Pink - Alpaca - Adult Ladies Socks - Size 5
I only need to knit 24 more rows, before I finish the leg.
Then I picked up the Spinning Ginny Original - Handspun - Knitted - Black - Alpaca - Infinity Scarf
This scarf is knitting up fast, it won't be long now before I will be binding off and sewing the ends together.
The last thing I knitted on today and only just finished working on for the night is the Spinning Ginny Original - Handspun - Knitted - Purple Orchid - Merino - Cabled - Hat.
I only have a few more rows left to knit and this hat will be finished.  The day passed by me so fast, that now I will put my knitting away until tomorrow.

Overslept, Finished Socks, new pair started etc

Good Morning!  Sorry I'm late, but I was up late last night knitting and didn't get to bed until the wee hours, so when my alarm went off this morning, I slept through it.
I finished the Spinning Ginny Original - Handspun - Knitted - White - Alpaca - Adult Ladies Socks - Size 5
I will be listing them here in a little bit.
With the finishing up of this pair a new pair is started.
I'm still knitting away on the Spinning Ginny Original - Custom Ordered - Handspun - Knitted - Black - Alpaca - Infinity Scarf.
It's really starting to grow now!
The new Spinning Ginny Original - Handspun - Knitted - Purple Orchid - Merino - Cabled - Hat is moving along quite nicely too.
Because I've been so busy knitting lately, my poor spinning wheel is being badly neglected.  Poor thing!  It needs a good spin around the spinning room.  LOL
I told you this week was going to be busy!

More Knitting and One Finished Project

Oh boy, I have lots to share today.  Well, really I've been sharing quite a bit all week, but today's a little bit different.
First off, I'm almost done with the Spinning Ginny Original - Handspun - Knitted - White - Alpaca - Adult Ladies Socks - Size 5
I only have roughly 33 more rows to go and then this pair will be finished.
Secondly, I'm still knitting away on the Spinning Ginny Original - Custom Ordered - Black - Alpaca - Infinity - Scarf
Its really starting to get longer now.
Thirdly, I finished the Spinning Ginny Original - Handspun - Knitted - Pink - Merino - Cabled - Hat

and with the finishing up of this Hat, I started on another one.
This is going to be the new Spinning Ginny Original - Handspun - Knitted - Purple Orchid - Merino - Cabled - Hat

Knitting needles clicking away bright and early, with a little spinning later on

What do you do when you can't sleep?  When I can't sleep, I head into the spinning room and start knitting and spinning.  Today was one of those mornings when I was in the spinning room bright and early, with the knitting needles clicking away.
I started off knitting on the Spinning Ginny Original - Handspun - Knitted - White - Alpaca - Adult Ladies Socks - Size 5.  I finished up the heel flap and heel turn, then started in on the gusset.
Then I changed over to knitting on the Spinning Ginny Original - Custom Ordered - Handspun - Knitted - Black - Alpaca - Infinity Scarf.
As you can see from this picture, the sun was up and shinning in through the window, when I put my knitting down, to go and eat breakfast.
Later I came back and picked up my knitting needles once again, but this time to start in knitting on the Spinning Ginny Original - Handspun - Knitted - Pink - Merino - Cabled - Hat.
I picked up all 68 stitches around and 17 rows knitted for the body of the hat.  I have 5 1/2 inches knitted from the bottom edge so far and need to knit another 1/2 inches, before I start decreasing for the crown.
Now I'm ready to head over to the spinning wheel to finish plying.
Wow, this morning has been truly productive.  I just finished plying up the 6th skein of white alpaca, from Bellagio's fleece.  Here's what my 3 bobbins look like now after plying up 2 skeins.
The first bobbin weights 3 3/8 ounces (with bobbin) - 2 ounces (for bobbin) = 1 3/8 ounces
The second bobbin weights 3 ounces (with bobbin) - 2 ounces (for bobbin) = 1 ounce
The third bobbin weights 3 1/4 ounces (with bobbin) - 2 ounces (for bobbin) = 1 1/4 ounces
Total weight is 1 3/8 + 1 + 1 1/4 = 4 5/8 ounces left to spin

Now if I subtract the 3 3/8 ounces, I started out with, from the total amount I have left after plying up the 6th skein, it would look something like this.

3 3/8 - 4 5/8 = 1 1/4 ounces is what I should have in the skein I just finished plying up.   Tomorrow is another day and I think, I just might ply up the 7th skein then.

Knitting and Spinning at Spinning Ginny's

Good Morning!  Lots of knitting and spinning going on here at Spinning Ginny.  I finished up the leg and started in on the heel flap, on the Spinning Ginny Original - Handspun - Knitted - White - Alpaca - Adult Ladies Socks - Size 5
I'm getting closer to finishing up this pair.  I'm really liking how the pattern is drawing in the leg of the sock, yet making it stretchy enough to keep it from sliding down on the leg and yet feel soft.  Also it draws in the top of the foot a little more so that it won't feel so loose and baggy (unless you like your sock to feel loose and baggy, like I do).
Then I picked up the Custom Ordered Spinning Ginny Original - Handspun - Knitted - Black - Alpaca - Infinity Scarf and started knitting away on it.
I've really got this pattern nailed down now, I don't even have to use my computer to look up my pattern.  I truly enjoy knitting this pattern, although there are times were I do make a mistake (especially, when I'm knitting with black yarn).
After knitting on the first 2 projects, I turned my attention to my new Spinning Ginny Original - Handspun - Knitted - Pink - Merino - Cabled - Hat.  Now originally I saw a pattern similar to this, but the hat was knitted with commercial yarn and also on size 10 double pointed needles.  I really liked the pattern, but since I was going to be using some of my handspun yarn and size 5 double pointed needles (that's the size I know works with my handspun yarn).  I knew that I'd have to write up my own cable hat pattern.  So over the weekend, I figured out part of the pattern and wrote it down, then started in knitting on it.  Today though I finished up the cabled portion of it and now I'm starting in to pick up the stitches along one of the edges.
I'm liking how this hat is starting to look.  Hope you do too!
Once I got my knitting done for the day, it was time to head over to the spinning wheel and finish ply up the 5th skein of Handspun White Alpaca Yarn.
It didn't take long though to finish filling up this bobbin, so I immediately started winding it off this off onto my niddy noddy into skein.  Then I washed it and hung it to dry.  Then headed back to the spinning room, where I weighted each bobbin again.
The first bobbin weighted 4 1/2 ounces (with bobbin) - 2 ounces (for bobbin) = 2 1/2 ounces of spun singles
The second bobbin weighted 3 7/8 ounces (with bobbin) - 2 ounces (for bobbin) = 1 7/8 ounces of spun singles
The third bobbin weighted 4 ounces (with bobbin) - 2 ounces (for bobbin) = 2 ounces of spun singles
 Total weight is 2 1/2 + 1 7/8 + 2 = 6 3/8 ounces left to spin
Now if I subtract the 9 3/4 ounces, I started out with, from the total amount I have left after plying up the 5th skein, it would look something like this.
9 3/4 - 6 3/8 = 3 3/8 ounces
is what I should have in the skein I just finished plying up.  Now its time to start in plying up the 6th skein.
Its 5:00 pm so its time to close up the spinning room.  I'll be back tomorrow though to knit and spin some more.
